Groups of hosting solutions

A hosting service implies stockpiling and/or sharing given content on a web server hosted by a hosting provider. There are various types of hosting services used for various goals, so let's examine these. In that way, you can decide what you want, based on whether you desire to run a weblog, mail address accounts, or to share files with chums and acquaintances.

- File hosting: a solution made available by various providers, which permits you to share huge files. These could be disk images, motion pictures, audio files, archived documents, etc. This solution is also known as file storage, and its single purpose is to share files, since it does not offer web page uploading. As soon as the files are uploaded, you will either receive an accidentally created download link for each of them, or you will be able to view a table of all the files in a directory, but you will not be able to see .html or .php web page files in your browser. Free file hosting services frequently involve ads by the download links, while a timer makes you await a specific interval of time to view them. A given file can be downloaded with limited speed. If you buy a paid file hosting plan, there are no restrictions as to how many files you can upload/download immediately, and also there is no restriction in regard to the download speed or the file size.

Now, with the help of the cPanel hosting retailers, "file hosting" is being renamed to the more modern "cloud hosting". This is a thoroughly inapt explanation of the real denotation of "cloud hosting". An actual cloud website hosting environment would distribute the load between different stacks of hosting servers in a cluster, which are committed to serving miscellaneous website hosting services (mail, storage space, stats, DNS, databases, web page hosting Control Panel, etc.) So, the file hosting service is merely a sort of a disk space hosting service, not a cloud hosting one. It's not even close.

- Image hosting: akin to file hosting; given companies provide a hosting solution for images solely. This hosting type is appropriate if you wish to share a huge amount of pictures with chums or acquaintances since the service is typically free. You will receive a random link for every image or album and you can subsequently share this link. As with the file storage solution, .html and .php files are not compatible, so the solution cannot be utilized for web pages.

- Email hosting: a service committed to managing your email aliases. Some distributors provide site hosting services for sites, but do not supply an e-mail hosting service. If you desire to run an e-mail address with your domain name but do not want to run a web site, then the email hosting service is what you need. You can set up mail accounts and manage them, but there will be no web solution for the domains. The email hosting solution includes incoming POP/IMAP and outgoing SMTP mail servers.

- Video hosting: this service permits you to upload and share videos. You can either share a link to a particular video file, or you can embed the video in your web site that is hosted somewhere else. The advantage of using this method in lieu of uploading the video in a hosting account is that the video file brings about a given amount of central processing unit load, so with a bunch of video clips and a few hundred viewers, you may have a problem with your web space hosting supplies. Embedding the video will enable you to own as many video clips as you want without bothering about system quotas.

- Website hosting: this is the service that you require if you would like to run a web site. To some degree, it includes all of the abovementioned hosting varieties since, along with your websites, you can also host images and files, you can set up databases and email address accounts, upload video clips, etc. At Lonex, for example, you can examine web hosting and dedicated hosting solutions that permit you to get all of the aforesaid services in one single location. There may be restrictions depending on the form of hosting solution that you've chosen - a free hosting account, a paid shared hosting plan, a VPS or a dedicated server. Depending on that, your webspace hosting plan may be better or worse compared to the common e-mail/file/video/image hosting packages that are created for specific web content exclusively.
